Mountain refuges



Val Senales offers mountain refuges like many more mountain resorts; the mountain refuges strictu sensu are two: the Bella Vista mountain refuge, located at 2842 meters of altitude and the Similaun refuge, located at 3108 meters, at the border between Italy and Austria. The Val Senales mountain refuges are on ski runs as well, giving skiers the possibility of taking a break between one ski run and the other, lying in the sun.

Mountain refuges The Val Senales mountain refuges or shepherds’ huts are the following:


Sheperds' huts and mountain refuges



  • Malga Mitterkaser: 1954 meters of altitude, possibility of sleeping there, open between May and  November, typical South Tyrolean gastronomy.

 

  • Malga Penaud: 2323 meters of altitude, possibility of sleeping there, open between June and October. Gastronomy products: homemade cheese, sausages, hams and cakes.  

 

  • Convent Shepherds’ hut: 2152 meters of altitude, possibility of sleeping there, open between June and September. Typical South Tyrolean gastronomy.

 

  • Malga Bergl: 2241 meters of altitude, open between mid-June and October, South Tyrolean gastronomy.

 

  • Malga Rableid: 2004 meters of altitude, open between May and November, South Tyrolean gastronomy with homemade cheese, possibility of sleeping there.

 

  • Baita Lauzaun: 2247 meters of altitude, open between mid- June and mid- October, gastronomy based on snacks, first courses and cold dishes all day long.

 

  • Baita Teufelsegg: 2450 meters of altitude, open between November and May, possibility  of reaching it for no skiers as well. South Tyrolean gastronomy.

 

  • Maso Finail: 1973 meters of altitude, open all year round, typical Val Senales gastronomy.

 

  • Maso Mastaun: 1820 meters of altitude, open between June and October, South Tyrolean gastronomy.

 

The Val Senales mountain refuges and shepherds’ huts also give you the possibility of exploring the Val Senales secondary valleys like Val di Fosse (German: Pfossental) and Val Penaud (German: Penaudtal).
