Ötzi

Here’s Ötzi, the Similaum mummy, also known as “Iceman”! This mummy dates back to the Copper Age, and scientists presume he died while crossing the Alps. The mummified body was found by a couple of German hikers on September 19th, 1991, in the point where now it’s located the Archeopark. The mummy is so important because his DNA is intact, together with his weapons, his clothes, and so on; thanks to this mummy, it was possible to “rebuild” many aspects of every day life in South Tyrol during the Copper Age. Ötzi is now exposed at the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology (Italian: Museo Archeologico dell’ Alto Adige, German: Südtiroler Archäologiemuseum) and many scholars even from the US and Australia came to Bolzano (German: Bozen, Ladin Bulsan), to study Ötzi. Even Brad Pitt was so fascinated by Ötzi that he copied his tattoos; he had them done on the same body parts.
